The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of a former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako till October 26. The Former Governor is being prosecuted alongside with his son, Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, Abubakar Aliyu and Zulkifikk Abba by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 37 counts of Conspiracy, stealing abuse of office, and money laundering to the tune of 29 billion Naira.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the dates for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, which will hold in 2019.

INEC Chairman, Professor Yakubu Mahmood made this announcement, while meeting with members of the commission and all Resident Electoral Commission and all Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC), at the INEC Headquarters’ Conference Hall Abuja on Thursday.

According to him the Presidential and National Assembly elections have been fixed for Saturday, 16th February,2019. The events were also live tweeted on INEC’s official Twitter handle.

The Senate yesterday passed into law the Kidnapping, Abduction Bill, specifying a 30-year jail term for anyone caught colluding with an abduction to receive ransom for any person wrongfully confined.

The Kwara State Government is set to employ additional 4,500 teaching and non-teaching staff to address the challenges of inadequate staff at the various Local Government Areas of the State.

Former chairman of the Kwara State Basic Universal Education Board, Alhaji Ladi Hassan disclosed this yesterday while handing over to the Acting Chairman of the board in Ilorin yesterday.

He added that those workers to be engaged would have to sing a bond with the State to work for four years at their various local governments.

He thanked the state Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed for approving the recruitment of more staff to further enhance teaching and learning in the state, particular at the grassroots.

The Kwara State Head of Service Mrs. Susan Modupeoluwa Oluwole has harp on the need for parents and guardians in the country to enroll their children and wards in institution of learning in order to give them edge in their future endeavor.
