The Revised 2022 Appropriation bill of N187.5 on Wednesday passed ‘Second Reading’ at the Kwara State House Assembly.

This followed a motion by the Deputy House Leader and member representing Lanwa/Ejidongara Constituency, Mr John Bello.
Leading the debate on the general principle of the bill.

Hon Bello said the Revised Appropriation 2022 Bill became necessary due to the global economy downturn affecting the country and Kwara in particular.

He commended the state Governor. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for being proactive, prudent with public funds and creating enabling environment that sustains the tempo.

In his contribution, the Chairman of Finance and Appropriation Committee, Mr Ibrahim Ambali, noted that the year 2022 was a challenging one due to the global economic downturn, but the state however scaled through via the transparency of the governor and unrelent efforts of the 9th Assembly.

Other lawmakers who contributed on the bill also lauded the executive , saying the administration is in tune with the current global economy and current political terminology.

The lawmakers agreed that the revised budget was in line with the current economic reality.

The Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, therefore called on the Clerk of the House, Halimah Kperogi, to read the Bill the second time.

The speaker thereafter referred the bill to the committee on Budget and Appropriation for further legislative consideration.

Below are the breakdown of the Revised Appropriation as stated by the lawmakers:
The approved total revenue estimate – N87,847,167,508 billion.
New revenue – N91,867,781,723 billion
Revised recurrent expenditure – 84,168,114,390 billion Transfer capital development fund – N33,679,053,118 billion.
Total revenue level increased to N98,152, 429,791 billion
Total transfer to capital development fund – N33,679,053,111 billion to N26,858,500, 83 billion
Percentage increase of revised recurrent expenditure is 17 per cent (minimum wage)
Revised Capital Estimate
Approved total capital estimate N105,449,373,234 now 15 per cent decreased to N89,379,276,138 billion
Total budget size after review exercise – N187,531,705,929 billion
2022 approved estimate – 189,617,487,624 billion. 1 per cent decrease.
Revised Total Recurrent Expenditure
Recurrent debt – N16,547,065,938 billion
Recurrent non-debt – N81,605,363,853 billion
Revised total capital expenditure – N89,379,276,138 billion.
