A 26 year old media practitioner, miss Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu, has been declared the winner of the State Assembly elections for the Owode/Onire State Constituency Election in Asa local government area of Kwara State.
Rukayat Shittu who contested under the All Progressives Congress polled 7,521 to defeat the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Abdullah Magaji, who polled 6,957.
Rukayat while speaking after her announcement as the winner said she felt privileged to emerged winner of the keenly contested election by appreciating her party, leaders of the party and voters for giving her what she described as a rare opportunity.
The newly elected Lawmaker was a Journalist and Head of the News Department, Just Event Online publication.
She resigned from her position to contest in the 2023 State House of Assembly election, marking the start of her political career.
