The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) for Ilorin West/Asa Federal constituency in last Saturday’s general election, Alhaji Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim, has rejected the result, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He made this known in a Press Statement, signed by the Director of Communication, Ajia Campaign Organisation (ACO), Mallam Abdulrahman Aliagan today in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, and made available to Sobi FM.
He hinged the rejection of the result on the fact that the whole process was marred with irregularities that are inconsistent with the notion of a free, fair, and credible election.
He equally used the opportunity to appreciate his teeming supporters for their resilience and steadfastness, promising to pursue the mandate, to a logical conclusion, using the window of legal opportunity provided in the electoral act (2022).
He also appealed to his supporters to remain calm, irrespective of the degree of provocation, promising to get their popular mandate restored.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had yesterday, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election, Mukthar Tolani Shagaya, as the winner.
