The controversy behind the usual resignation of Jay FM presenters has taken a new turn, as the brain behind the internationally recognised anti-gender and domestic violence radio program “Silent Voices”, Nanji Nandang has dragged the private station to court for alleged Intellectual property Infringement.
Ms Nandang through her legal representative, G. U. Ofen-Imu of Royal Attorneys, brought Jay FM before the Federal High Court division in Jos.
In January 2023 Nanji Nandang filed a case against Jay FM for alleged Infringement of intellectual property. According to her legal representative, G. U. Ofen-Imu, the court case will commence on March 27, 2023.
After her resignation, the show continued to air on Jay FM despites Ms Nandang’s request to the management to pull down the programme. The station went ahead to assign the coverage of Silent Voices to another staff.
However, when she filed the court case, the show was renamed to “The Unrestrained”, this is the first time Nandang has openly spoken about the situation.
Among other things, Nanji sought a declaration that Jay FM had violated her copyright. She also demanded that the station stop broadcasting her intellectual property covered by the Copyright law.
Recall that the initiator and lead presenter of the internationally recognised radio program, and 5 others tendered their resignation in August 2022.
