Locally produced commodities by women in Kwara state including body creams, fabrics, bedding, food items among others, were part of the items unveiled at a mini trade fair hosted by Organisations under the umbrella of Women Voice Leadership Project, powered by Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation.

The fair, which was part of the pleasant results of the economic empowerment for women put in place by the Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation, GLOHWOC with support from Global Affairs Canada and Action Aid Nigeria under the Women Voice Leadership Project, was held at the premises of Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs.

While speaking with newsmen at the fair, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation (GLOHWOC) Mrs. Christy Oluwole Abayomi, stated that through community-based organisations, many women were trained in various skills such as body cream, soap, duvet, and pillow making.

According to her, “Economic empowerment is one of the thematic areas of the Women Voice Leadership Project and with the assistance in skills acquisition and production of goods, many more women have been given a means of livelihood through which they can contribute to the nation’s economy and assist their family members.

Other items on display were liquid soap, kulikuli peanut, plantain flour, adire, coconut oil and insecticides.

One of the beneficiaries and producer of body and hair creams, Ms Grace, lauded the sponsors and acknowledged that through the empowerment, she can make ends meet.

Also speaking a producer of plantain flour, Ms Rachel, attested to the professionalism and cleanliness with which the products were made and commended the Global Affairs Canada and Action Aid in Nigeria for the economic empowerment effort.

Commenting on the products, Dr. Raphael Adeyemi, one of the participants at the fair noted that the good quality of the made in Nigeria products is undeniable, and the prices are affordable.

He further urged Nigerians to patronize made in Nigeria products so that we can stimulate our economy.
