The Kwara state Governor Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara has forwarded nominees for screening and confirmation as Chairman and Members of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission KWSIEC.
This was contained in a Message from the Governor addressed to the Speaker, Kwara state house of Assembly Hon. Yakubu Sa, Elihu, and read before his colleagues during today’s plenary
The nominees are Okala Baba from Ilorin West as Chairman, while Fredric Sabi Abel, Engineer Hassan Taiye Salam, Gbedeyan Gbadura Yomi, Ndama Al-Hassan, Saka Baliqees Kehinde Ilorin and Engineer Abdullahi Amudat will serve as members of Commission
Governor Abdulrazaq said their nomination is by section One Nine Two subsection One to Five of the Constitution having qualified with the necessary skills and experience to carry out the duties of their respective positions.
The Spe, Aker, therefore directed the nominees to appear before the House for screening tomorrow at Ten O’clock in the morning and charged them to submit Thirty-five copies of their Credentials to the office of the Clerk before the close of work today
In another development, the House of Assembly has granted Legislative Approval for the deduction of a Five Percent Consultancy Fee to AJAB Financial Services Limited from Kwara Entitlements from Stamp Duties Refunds.
This followed a Message from the Governor requesting House endorsement for the deduction of Consultancy Fee from Recovery and Refund of Backlog of Stamp Duties owed to Kwara State Government in a thorough debate led by Deputy House Leader, Hon. John Bello during today’s sitting
Governor Abdulrazaq in a letter intimated to the House that the Nigerian Governors Forum recently resolved to settle out in a Stamp Duties suit instituted by the Thirty-Six States against Federal Government
He pointed out that the out-of-court settlement would resort in more availability of funds to be deployed by the State Government for development interventions.
