The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commiserated with Toyin Saheed of Sobi FM, Ilorin, over the death of his mother, Hajia Aishat Ayinke Saheed.
The condolence message was contained in a statement by the Chairman of the Union, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Secretary, Comrade Omotayo Ayanda and issued to newsmen in Ilorin on Wednesday.
The Union described the death of Hajia Saheed as a great loss, not only to the family of the deceased, but to the community and people of Kwara State.
“We received the death with shock. We lost a woman of substance, whose sterling qualities as a mother of all, placed her above many of her contemporaries.
“On behalf of the members of Kwara NUJ, we are extending our profound sympathy and condolences to Toyin Saheed and his siblings over the death of their matriarch”, the statement said.
It noted that Hajia Saheed departed at a ripe age of 85 years, even as it charged the children to thank God for surviving their mother.
The statement further urged those she left behind to always emulate her exemplary lifestyle.
The Union, however, prayed the Almighty Allah to forgive all her earthly inadequacies and reward her good deeds with Jannatul-li-Firdaus.
