Food security has been identified as one of the key priorities of the present administration in tackling hunger and poverty in Kwara State.
The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas made the disclosure during her maiden meeting with the Management Staff, held at the Conference Room of the Ministry in Ilorin.
In a statement by the Press secretary Yusuf Ganiyu Adebisi, the commissioner explained that one of the major challenges confronting the country at the moment is the issue of food insecurity, which has brought inestimable hardship to the majority of the citizens.
She emphasized the need for the Ministry to work together by putting up a workable work plan that would fast-track the realization of the policy thrust of the government on food and nutrition security in the state.
The Commissioner, however, appealed to the management staff to rededicate themselves for the progress of the Ministry by giving her their maximum support towards achieving the vision of the present administration in the state.
She said the ministry under her watch would operate an open-door policy that would accommodate all innovative ideas that would assist in achieving the objectives of the sector within a short period of time.
Responding on behalf of the management staff, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, TPL. Ishiaq Oloruko-oba assured the Commissioner of their unflinching support for the realization of the governor’s noble vision for the sector and the state in general.
