The All Progressives Congress (APC) Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly has elected the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as its new chairman.
This was made known via a communiqué issued and signed by Speakers of the APC State Houses of Assembly after a competitive, transparent, and democratic election by the state legislators on Saturday in Abuja.
The conference recognized the indispensable role of legislative autonomy in upholding democratic principles and ensuring effective governance.
They conference reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and upholding the autonomy of the legislative arm at all levels of government to promote good governance that would engender Nigeria’s growth and progress.
It also deliberated on various resolutions aimed at fostering legislative excellence.
These resolutions, according to the communique, encompassed a wide range of issues, including legislative reforms, intergovernmental cooperation, capacity building, and public engagement.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu on his emergence as the chairman of the APC Speakers’ Forum.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor expressed confidence that the speaker, who comes to the job with good experience, will steer the Forum of APC Speakers to greater heights.
The governor prayed to God to guide and bless Speaker Danladi-Salihu with the wisdom to always deliver excellently on every assignment that comes his way, including the latest leadership position.
