An elder of the Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria, IPMAN, in the South West and Managing Director of SANRAB Petroleum Alhaji Abdulkareem Sanni, has sounded a warning about the perilous situation faced by residents of Tanke Iledu, Tanke Bubu Awolowo Road and other adjoining communities due to the ongoing closure of the Tanke road for bridge construction.

Speaking to Sobi FM on behalf of the thirteen fuel stations located along the Tanke University road, he expressed grave concerns highlighting the inherent danger posed by fuel tankers navigating through these communities to reach to dispense petrol to them.

Alhaji Sanni revealed that the continuous closure has led to several avoidable incidents where fuel-laden tankers have fallen into gutters due to the narrow inner roads, heightening the risk of a potential fire disaster.

He called upon the Kwara State government to expedite action on the construction of the bridge or compel the contractor to open a side for motorists, especially petrol tankers, to ensure the safety of the communities.

Alhaji Sanni’s plea underscores the pressing need for immediate action to avert possible catastrophic consequences resulting from the hazardous transportation of petroleum products through the affected communities.
