Work has commenced on the recently approved one kilometer Gaa Aremu-Isale Jagun-Kuntu road project in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State by the Federal Government.
The construction of the asphaltic road, which was facilitated by the senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha, comes after a series of passionate requests to him by residents and community development associations from Kuntu, Isale-Jagun, Gaa-Aremu and other areas of Ilorin West.
Speaking to newsmen while on a inspection visit to the road project site in company of representatives of the beneficiary communities to monitor the ongoing project, the Liaison officer to Senator Saliu Mustapha, Alhaji Tunde Abdulkadir, noted that his visit was to connect the contractor handling the project with the community‘s representatives for adequate synergy and to ensure that the road project was executed inline with its specifications.
He said it was also to reiterate the fact that the Senator’s monitoring team would not settle for less in terms of standard and quality of the project.
Abdulkadri further added that “ projects such as this will complement the giant strides of the Kwara State Government on road infrastructure. There is need to support the state government in its drive to build standard roads in the urban and rural areas of the state “
“All hands must be on deck to support Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq led administration in the quest to improve road and other notable infrastructural facilities in the state”
“As we all know, the state is doing a lot already and we can’t leave everything to the government”, -Abdulkadri said
Reacting to the development, the President of Isale-Jagun Community Development Association, Salman Yusuf Adebayo, described the project as “a dream come true for the area”.
“Our people have suffered for too long and they are excited that the reconstruction process is finally happening. If you have plied the road before, you will understand how important this project is to our people. If completed, the road would ease life and improve businesses in the area”, he said
Adebayo therefore expressed the community’s appreciation to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Senator Saliu Mustapha for the intervention, promising that the beneficiary communities will follow the execution of the project to the completion stage towards ensuring that standard work is being done by the contractor handling the project.
