In a proactive move to enhance local infrastructure, residents of Alagbon community in Ilorin South Local Government, Kwara State, have undertaken the funding and grading of over two kilometers of roads within their community.
Chairman of Alagbon-Kajola Emirate Estate Community, Bamidele Ashaolu, revealed to newsmen that the community-driven project, costing approximately N 2 million, was financed through contributions from the residents.
Ashaolu explained that the ongoing road grading initiative, linking Old Jebba road to Judges Quarters/Taoheed road via Oke Adini, aims to ensure the accessibility of the roads for the community’s residents.
Acknowledging the limitations of government resources, Ashaolu emphasized that the community’s initiative is a supportive measure, recognizing that the government cannot address all infrastructural needs alone.
The chairman appealed to Governor Abdulraman Abdulrasaq to extend support for the road construction before the onset of the next rainy season.
Ashaolu further urged the government to expedite action on the provision of a much-needed transformer, following a survey conducted by the Kwara State Ministry of Energy for an electricity project in the area.
