As part of its efforts to rid Kwara State of illicit drugs, and supply reduction” strategy., the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kwara State Command, today paraded four suspects who were arrested in possession of illicit drugs.

Briefing newsmen today, at the state command headquarters in Ilorin, the State Commander, Mr. Mohammed-Bashir Ibrahim stated that, one of the suspects, Yussuf Salihu, was arrested while in possession of cannabis weighing 31kg on the expressway on his way to Kebbi state, where he allegedly supplies bandits in the state.

The other suspects according to the state commander were arrested in a hotel in Kwara state during the command’s stop and search routine, the suspects include one Segun Gabriel who was found in possession of Tramadol, Diazepam, cannabis sativa, and methavitamin, and one Aliyu Ismaila that was found with 1.7kg of cannabis sativa, while the other suspect was one young lady Bishola Ishola who is a girlfriend to Segun Gabriel who was also found in possession with cannabis and methavitamin.

Bashir added that the owners of the hotel which has allegedly been used for the location for illicit drug business have been invited for questioning, while the manager of the hotel has already been arrested.

The commandant Bashir also promises to intensify their intelligence gathering, operations in the state with the support of the Kwara state government to protect members of the public from falling victim to the illicit trade.
