A Truck loaded with Petrol Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol caught fire at Bovas filling station at Odota area of Ilorin this morning, leaving the driver badly injured during the fire incident.

A witness told our Correspondent Toyin Saheed that as soon as the fire gutted the tank inside the Filling station, the driver jumped into the truck trying to drive it out of the station to avoid a huge conflagration that can engulf the station.

The timely intervention of the Kwara State Fire Servicemen who arrived promptly saved the fire from spreading to other facilities.

Speaking in an interview with SobiFM’s Correspondent after quenching the fire, the HOD Media and Publicity of state fire service Hassan Adekunle explained the course of the fire incident.

The Manager of Bovas Filling station Odota, Victor Oluremi while thanking God for the safety of lives also commended the efforts of the state fire service and police officers for their prompt arrival to the scene of the accident.
