President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has issued an order to revise the composition of the Organising Committee for the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), among other sessions.
The announcement, reported by Caliber.Az, was made available on the official website of the Azerbaijani president.
The revised committee now includes prominent individuals such as Chairman of the Seaside Boulevard Authority Khanlar Agalarov, the Chairman of the Public Association “Woman, Development, Future” Gulshan Akhundova, Head of the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture Sabina Hajiyeva.
Others are Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Science Foundation Mehriban Imanova, President of the Public Association “Centre for Gender Equality of Youth” Maryam Mejidova, Secretary General of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Natavan Mammadova, Director of DOST Centre for Inclusive Development and Creativity Nigar Mammadova, Founder of SmartNation platform Shabnam Mammadova.
The Committee also included Ilgar Musayev, Head of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, Samira Musayeva, Deputy Head of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company, Konul Nurullayeva, MP, Ruslan Sadigov, General Director of the White City Project, Inara Veliyeva, Chairperson of the Board of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
They were joined by Parvana Veliyeva, executive director of the public association “Sağlamlığa Xidmət”, co-founder of the “Environmental Protection First” coalition, and Fatma Yildirim, MP.
In addition, Ruslan Aliyev, General Director of the Azerigaz Production Association, was excluded from the organising committee.
