The resident of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, are expressing their grievances over the current fuel scarcity crisis, urging the government to intervene urgently to address the shortage of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, and to safeguard the economy.
Sobi FM reporter who conducted a survey across Ilorin metropolis, reports widespread disruption caused by the fuel scarcity, including long queues at gas stations, sharp price increases, and severe economic hardships, leaving residents frustrated and stranded.
During an interview with Sobi FM Mr. Ibrahim Muhammed, who was queuing for fuel at a filling station in Surulere, area of Ilorin, expressed his frustration after waiting for more than five hours under the scorching sun.
Lamenting that he had left his sick son alone at the hospital with no one to care for him.
Similarly, a tricycle operator, AbdulAzeez Olomoda, lamented the challenges he faced while attempting to purchase fuel at a filling station in Okolowo, Ilorin.
He criticized black marketers for exploiting the situation by selling petrol at exorbitant prices ranging from ₦1,500 to ₦2,000.
The Residents are therefore calling on the government to provide immediate solutions to the fuel scarcity, as well as prioritize long-term strategies to prevent future crises.
