Residents and commuters using the Ajase IPO – Igbaja – Oke Ode road in Ifelodun Local Government Area have appealed to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq to urgently repair the road, which has been a source of hardship to the people.

The deteriorating condition of the road, which connects several communities from Ajasse Ipo to Oke Ode, has exacerbated insecurity and economic difficulties for towns along the route.

The situation has become particularly dire, following the abduction of 15 market women returning from Oke Ode market last Wednesday, highlighting the dangerous state of the road.

Elder Oyin Olaitan Zubair, a community leader, praised the State Government for approving the reconstruction of part of the road from Ajassepo to Okeyapo.

However, he emphasized the urgent need to address the 3km portion near Oyi Bridge, calling for scrapping and surface dressing to improve economic activities and security in the area.

Alhaji Isiaka Zubair, a public transporter, expressed concern that the road has become a death trap, worsened by the heavy trucks that frequently use it.

He urged the government to address the road’s condition as a matter of urgency to prevent further accidents and improve safety for all road users.
