The Kwara state Government has directed Directors of Personnel Management (DPM) to take charge of the administration of the 16 local government areas of Kwara State until a new election is held in September.
The government gave the directive in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development Mrs Modupe Iyabo Adekeye and a copy made available to Sobi FM.
This directive effectively dissolves the Transition Implementation Committees (TICs) earlier appointed to manage the councils pending new local government elections.
It would be recalled that the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) had slated the next local council election for September 21, 2024.
