The Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday mourned the deaths of CP Adeyinka Adebayo Oyun, the Comptroller of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service, and Alhaji Abdulrazaq Olayinka Bello, a journalist with Radio Nigeria and Chairman of the Kwara State House of Assembly Press Corps.
The House under a motion of personal explanation by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode, representing Oke Ogun Constituency and Hon. Shittu Rukayat Motunrayo, member representing Owode Onire Constituency, both relying on Order 7, Rule 41 of the House.
Hon. Ojo, in his submission, described CP Oyun, who he noted was his brother, as a distinguished ambassador of Kwara State who had made significant contributions in his career.
Similarly, Hon. Rukayat in her submission described Mr. Abdulrazaq Bello, who passed away suddenly yesterday after experiencing discomfort at a hospital in Ilorin, as an important member of the fourth estate of the realm.
She highlighted his dedication to journalism and his unwavering commitment to using his profession in the service of God.
“Known for his humility, diligence, and commitment, Mr. Bello made significant contributions through his unique writing style and insightful reporting, particularly on proceedings at the State House of Assembly,” she added.
The Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, called for a minute of silence to honor the departed souls.
