The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation has commenced the distribution of agricultural inputs as part of its empowerment project in Kwara North Senatorial District.

The initiative, which began on Monday, August 26, 2024, is designed to benefit 986 primary farmers and over 2,500 secondary beneficiaries across the region.

During the flag-off ceremony, Mallam Musa Aliyu, the North Central Regional Director of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, highlighted that the distribution initially targeted members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but has since expanded to include all farmers in Kwara North, regardless of political affiliation.

Aliyu explained that the project’s primary goal is to provide low-income farmers with essential inputs such as fertilizers and herbicides to enhance their agricultural productivity for the 2024 farming season.

“The initiative is part of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation’s broader effort to enhance agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Kwara North,” he said.

Additionally, Aliyu noted that the foundation’s efforts would contribute to addressing public health issues such as malnutrition and inadequate diets by ensuring that farmers have the resources needed to produce quality crops.

He expressed satisfaction with the early success of the program, citing positive feedback from beneficiaries.

The Agbesowapo Farmers’ Association of Moro LGA, through its Chairman, Aremu Abdulfatai, conveyed their gratitude for the support, acknowledging the positive impact on their farming activities.

Similarly, Hammada Balkis Motunrayo, representing the National Women Society Council in Moro LGA, expressed appreciation on behalf of women farmers in the region.

She emphasized the importance of utilizing the inputs effectively, urging beneficiaries not to resell the critical resources provided.

Aliyu reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to monitoring the progress of the beneficiaries and providing ongoing support to ensure the success of the empowerment project.
