The wife of the Kwara State Governor and founder, Ajike Foundation, Ambassador (Dr.) Olufolake Abdulrazaq, has re-echoed the government’s commitment and huge investments in sports.

Amb. Abdulrazaq also stated that the administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is committed to investing in the youths of the state and interested in their capacity building. Represented by the state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, the first lady made this known today while receiving the “Grass Roots Olufolake Table Tennis Association” as part of the preparation for the third edition of “Olufolake Under-14 Table Tennis Tournament” scheduled to hold on the 13th-16th of September.

Amb. Abdulrazaq, who affirmed that the government believes in helping Kwarans bring forth their talents early enough, added that there is hope for the younger generation in Kwara State under the present administration.

She recalled the rehabilitation of the stadium complex and the government’s investments in the sector while adding that her office will not relent in supporting the Association and giving hope to the Kwara child.

Earlier, the Chief Coordinator of the Association, Mr. Adebayo Dare, appreciated the Governor and the First Lady for being passionate about bringing the youths in the grassroots to limelight and harnessing their potentials.

He noted that the previous edition of the tournament recorded overwhelming success throughout the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state and added that for the first time, all 16 LGAs were given a brand new Table Tennis Board each, in order to ensure regular practice and also aid relaxation.

Adebayo clamoured for more support in the upcoming tournament in the areas of feeding , accommodation and other technical areas.

In a related development, the First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Dr. Olufolake Abdulrazaq has promised the government’s support in ensuring the Ilorin Gulf Club maintains its renowned standards.She made this known when playing host to the Executives of the Ilorin Golf Club today.

The First Lady, represented by the Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, assured that the challenges of the Club would be looked into and adequate steps taken.

On his part, the Captain of the Ilorin Golf Club, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Lambo, appreciated the government for the smooth relationship existing between the government and the Management.

He added that the Golf Club is a “monumental place for elites in Kwara State” and reiterated that Mallam Abdulrazaq is a Patron of the club and the First Lady, a Matron.

Lambo sought for the government’s assistance for a bus for the Golf Club and tractor and slashers in order to make the field tidy.
