The Kwara State Government has once again reiterated its support for the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar, an event showcasing the culture of the emirate.
This assurance was given by the state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, while receiving the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee in his office today.
Towoju said, the government is committed to uplifting and upholding the cultural values of Kwara State and will not stop in showcasing the state’s heritage to the world.
According to him, “I assure you of the support of the government towards the success of this year’s durbar and my ministry will also help to create the needed publicity and awareness for this great annual festival,” he added.
On his part, the Chairman of the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, Engr. Suleiman Yahaha Alapansapa enumerated the activities preceding the durbar and stated that a royal visit by the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari to the state governor on the third day after sallah will round off the festival.
Engr. Alapansapa added that Ilorin Durbar scheduled for the second day of Ileya, is an annual festival which showcases the heritage and culture of Ilorin Emirate to the outside world.
He added that the Ilorin Durbar will positively affect the economy and has been attracting international and national investors to the state. The Chairman thereafter sought for government’s support towards the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar while also soliciting for more publicity for the event.
