The mmediate past president of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has started distribution of cows and rams to different categories of people in Kwara State.
The Press Officer on Local Matters to Saraki, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, who made this known in a statement on Wednesday, said many of the beneficiaries also got cash gifts from the former two term governor of the state.
Abdulqadir said that Saraki’s gesture which has become an annual tradition, was to enable the beneficiaries fulfil their Sallah obligation of animal sacrifice and to also celebrate the festival with joy.
He listed the beneficiaries of the goodwill to include less privileged families, party members and stakeholders, traditional leaders, Islamic clerics, youth and women-led groups.
“In his usual style of putting smiles on faces of the vulnerable members of the society during festive periods, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, today, began the distribution of cows, rams and cash gifts to different categories of people in Kwara State.
“It is hoped that this gesture will enable the beneficiaries fulfil their religious obligation of animal sacrifice and also celebrate the festival with joy.
“The Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, Dr Saraki, while wishing Muslim faithful in Kwara a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration in advance, urged them particularly those who are well to do to show love and extend hands of support to vulnerable people around them, in the spirit of the Eid celebration.
