The Kwara State Government has once again restated its commitment to supporting the youths in the state by providing a thriving environment for innovations to grow.

The state Governor Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, gave this assurance during the 2022 Arise Youth Agripreneur Support Project, organized by a Non-Governmental Organization, Arise Charity for Youth Development Initiative, which held at the Conference room of the state Ministry of Youth Development.

The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, commended the initiative of the organizers while also assuring that the government of the day is interested in agricultural development and also bringing out the potentials of the youths.

He added that several projects embarked by the government are being done to ensure that the youths get viable employment.

While noting that his cabinet is fair to the youths by giving them a chance to bring fresh ideas to governance, the governor added that various youth empowerment schemes have been embarked upon by the administration to develop youth capacity.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Jamilah Adamu Bake, appraised the charity group for its selflessness in fostering a positive change among the youths in agricultural entrepreneurship.

She called on the organizers to ensure that the initiative is also spread across the three senatorial districts in the state so all youths can partake. On his part, the Chairman of the charity group, Mr. Kuranga Mumeen, stated that the group is focused on building capacity in the youths through means like leadership trainings, agricultural extension, volunteerism, mental health advocacy and education.

He added that the group has “awarded scholarship to about 4 youths in Ilorin, distributed foodstuff and cash donations during the Covid-19 lockdown, donated school materials, organized trainings, among others, in the past 2 years.

“In her goodwill message, the CEO of Olive Community Development Initiative, Mrs. Oluwatoni Adeleke, commended the Arise Charity group while also harping on strategic partnerships in achieving the aims of the group.
