We only see them every four years With the same words and promises.
They claim to be part of us Yet they dress in expensive flowing Agbada While we are clothed in rags
They say they can feel our pain Yet their bellies protrude with excessive food While ours are flat from starving Everytime they fail us Yet everytime we fall for their deceit While walking on your street You see young children hawking to feed.
Buy from them even if you don’t need.Cos they are the ones who do not steal.Passing by your corner each and everyday.
If you see an old man or woman with a lonely gaze Say hello to them even if they don’t say Cos they are the ones whose smile is not fake Riding in your car every now and then
Give to them even if it’s some change you could spare
They are the ones who don’t have a choiceYou can’t be truly happy
If others are in despair
So try to make people happy
Even if it’s with a joke that you invent.#Dazzlemaryam#
