The Speaker of the Kwara state house of Assembly Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has once again reiterated the need to ensure the independence of the three arms government devoid of interference from any quarter.
The speaker dropped the hint while declaring open a Public Hearing on two Executive Bills for laws to provide for Financial Autonomy for Judiciary and Legislature in the state held at the Assembly Complex, today in Ilorin.
Hon Salihu said the bills when passed and assented into law would enable the arms of government perform their various functions without fear as enshrined in principles of Separation of Power.
He applauded Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for forwarding the two bills to the House in complicated with Section One Two One Subsection Three of the Constitution as amended
In his remark, Chairman of the Public Hearing and Deputy Speaker, Mr Raphael Adetiba challenged Ministries, Departments and Agencies to work out modalities to improve the funding strength of the state to savage the state from financial shortage.
Also Speaking, Chairman, House Committee, Finance and Appropriation, Mr Ambali Olatunji identified Judiciary and Legislature as fundamental to democracy as each arm would be truly independent and would not be subjected to the influence when passed.
Ministries of Justice, Finance, Planning, Judicial Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Civil Society Organizations were part of stakeholders with significant contributions and observations on the two Executive Bills at the Public Hearing.
