In continuation of his various intervention in the health sector, the Senator representing Kwara Central and Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has once again facilitated medical equipment to Oju-Ekun Basic Health Centre located at Ojuekun/Zarumi Ward of Ilorin West LGA to expand healthcare services at the grassroots level.
Delivering the items to the facility today, Sen. Oloriegbe represented by his aide, Abdullahi Yusuf Atolagbe explained that the abiding resolve to strengthen the Primary Health Cares is an essential quest to deepen community-focused care to enhance affordable healthcare services and ensure equitable access to health resources irrespective of socio-economic status.
According to him, “Primary Health Centres are the first point of contact designated to provide comprehensive care for the people at the grassroots level to reduce pressure on secondary and tertiary health facilities and bring a sense of wellness to the communities.
“Thus, we will not relent in our quest to ensure financial barriers that hamper access to health services are stamped out by equipping our PHCs for improved services to the people at the grassroots.
“This intervention is continuous and multifaceted to improve the quality of life and strengthen the health reform for the betterment of the people.
We will continue to give maximum priority to the pressing needs of the people to meet their expectations and enhance the general well-being.
“The community chairman, Oju-Ekun Developments Association, Mallam Ibrahim Abdulwahab while speaking at the brief handing-over expressed that: “a gesture of this nature is unprecedented in the history of Kwara Central senatorial representation.
It thus gladdens our hearts that Sen. Oloriegbe has chosen to be different by doing what others could not do. We pray to Allah to continue to excel him.
“APC chieftains and community elders, Alh. Baba Adefalu and Alh. Olosasa in their separate remarks commended Oloriegbe for making them proud with his people-centric representation noting that his gesture will bring them much deference in their community.
The officer in charge of the facility, Hajia Maro Adebayo on behalf of the management appreciated Oloriegbe for the gesture which she described as their major need to enhance service delivery and increase patronage from the community beyond.
She also gives assurance that the equipment would be efficiently used to serve the community.
Some of the stakeholders in attendance at the event were: The acting Magaji of Oju-Ekun, Alh. Abdulrahman Ayinde, Alh. Baba Olosasa, Alh. Baba Adefalu, Hon. Arije and other members of the community as they took turns to shower encomiums on the lawmakers.
Items delivered include and are not limited to Hospital Beds, mattresses, examination couches, suction machines, sterilizers, delivery couch, centrifuge manual vacuum, stretchers as well as Malaria RDT Kits.
Others include but are not limited to, motorbikes, generators, refrigerators, binocular microscopes, furniture and a host of others.
