The Kwara State Community-Policing Initiative, Gambari District has called on critical stakeholders, and public-spirited individuals within the District, Ilorin Emirate, and Kwara State at large, to support the initiative in its efforts with logistics, and crime-fighting equipment, to rid the district of crime and criminality.
Making the call in his welcome address, today is the Chairman, Kwara State Community-Policing Initiative, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Jubril, during a Security interactive forum, held at the Balogun Gambari Fada, to fashion out ways and strategy on how to respond to the current spate of cultism-related violence in the Metropolis.
Also speaking during an interaction with the press, at the event, was the SA Strategy to the Governor, Alhaji Saadudeen Salaudeen, who commended the initiative, describing it as timely, and in tune with the determination of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties of residents of the State.
The SA who advised other community in the state to emulate the initiative, said intelligence gathering must be Community-based, such that everybody in the neighbourhood is expected to cooperate with the security agencies, by reporting any suspicious, or strange faces, making strange moves in their areas.
Also speaking during an interview with newsmen was the National President, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, IEDPU, Alhaji Aliyu Usman Ottah, who commended the Balogun Agba of Ilorin, for his leadership skills that bear the fruit of community policing.
The event which has the Balogun Àgbá of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Muhammed Adebayo as the Chief Host, was well attended by residents of the Gambari Community, also had in attendance, the high-ranking officials of the various paramilitary establishments in the State.
