The Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has equipped and handed over Magaji Ajomun Primary Health Center in Akanbi Ward II, Ilorin South LGA, to the community leaders to accelerate the resuscitative efforts and restore access to health care services in the community.
The medical equipment intervention is to complement the comprehensive renovation of the facility which the lawmaker had earlier facilitated as part of the efforts to ensure affordable health care is accessible to the people.
While speaking yesterday at the handing-over ceremony, Sen. Oloriegbe represented by his media aide, Bolaji Aladie, while explaining the reasons for the intervention said “There are no material things that we could have offered that would best retribute you for the mandate you gave us.
“We chose not to allow transient applause that attends fleeting inducements to distract or preclude the facilitation of projects with a lasting impact on the well-being of the people.
“This intervention will not only be beneficial to you but also to the upcoming generations who will be availing themselves of this facility, this is the kind of legacy we seek to establish to allow people to enjoy the sustainable dividends of democracy”, he said.
Oloriegbe said he strongly believe that a hospital should not be known by its size, colours or dimensions of the building, but rather by the availability of modern medical equipment and the expertise of the personnel that will man that equipment.
“This informed our decision to put life to the facility with this equipment in various areas of health services that will be of benefit to the community.
“For us to achieve the desired positive results, we enjoin you to protect this facility from vandals and other destructive tendencies that might scuttle the purpose for which the interventions were made and draw you back to the dark time of walking long distances to access health services,” he added.
An APC Chieftain in Akanbi Ward II, Alh. Abdulrauf Aireke in his remarks lauded Sen. Oloriegbe for the huge developments he has brought to the ward, referencing the various projects he has facilitated for the benefit of the people.
“Senator Oloriegbe’s representation has been of greater impact to us in Akanbi Ward II. I stand to say here today that, amongst those whom we canvassed votes and voted for in 2019, Sen. Oloriegbe is the only one that has projects that can be pointed to in the whole of this ward, these include water projects and the facility we are commissioning today.
His impacts are what All Progressives Congress as a political party can always reference as dividends of democracy they brought to the electorates. We are indeed proud of him.
“While appreciating the Senator on behalf of the Local Government Council, the secretary of Ilorin South, Toyib Olanrewaju said the facility has been in existence for a very long time and the council have been looking for a way to revamp it but, the limited resource has been an impediment to achieving the feat until Sen. Oloriegbe came to our rescue.
“He has demonstrated to be a worthy representative and we are also proud to identify with his strides across Ilorin South LGA”, he said.
In his reaction, the Magaji Ajomun, Alhaji Adebayo Oladimeji expressed gratitude to senator Oloriegbe for the gesture, saying that the has etched his name with a golden pen in their hearts.
“We are very grateful to Senator Oloriegbe for this remarkable intervention in our communities. He has etched his name with a golden pen in our hearts by proving to be of a different class amongst people in positions of authority as he fulfilled the promise he made to us when he came to seek our mandate four years ago.
“Before Sen. Oloriegbe, many people have promised to help us resuscitate this structure but it all ended as a tall dream. On behalf of the twelve communities that will be making use of this facility, I pray to Allah to always meet our Senator at his points of need,” he prayed.
