The Wife of Kwara governor, Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has cautioned against stigmatising victims of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the state.
Mrs AbdulRazaq, also the Founder, Ajike People Support Centre, made the appeal on Friday in Ilorin while presenting N50,000 each to four SGBV survivors in the state.
She said the money was a quarterly donation to four SGBV survivors in each state of the federation from the Survivors’ Fund of the Nigerian Governors’ Wives Forum.
The governor’s wife listed the beneficiaries as Naimat Bashir, Muritala Memunat, Taiwo Abosede and Muritala Mujidat.
The essence is to support you to take care of yourselves. We expect you to use the money judiciously in your own interests,” she advised.
She commended the media and other stakeholders for their efforts towards tackling the ills in the society.
The governor’s wife however urged the media to embark on more aggressive campaigns against SGBV in the state.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Muritala Mujidat, commended the Kwara First Lady for her love and care for women and youths in the state.
