No fewer than fifteen kidnappers and seven phone theft suspects were paraded in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Wednesday by the state security network agency ,code named Amotekun corps at different locations in the state.
The Commander of the corps , Adetunji Adeleye said that the kidnappers had operated successful in seven different states and have made well over eighty-four million(#84m) naira from the ransom paid.
While fielding questions from Kaftanpost, one of the suspects, Muhammad Ali confessed that, security agencies have tried all their efforts in those states to put their activities into check, but all to no avail.
“Am Muhammad Ali, from Abuja, we have operated successful in seven states without any hinderance until we were caught in Ondo state by Amotekun”.
” From the kidnap we have been able to carried out, over #84m has been realised” he confessed.
However, the corps also paraded other syndicates who specialized in phone theft around the state capital.
The syndicates said they moved to shops and stores pretended like a serious customers and robb them of their phones.
Shuaibu Aliu one of the suspects said they move around the state to steal phones.
” we lodged in Owo, in one of the hotels with the primary aim of stealing phones”
According to the Amotekun corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye said that, the syndicate came to town with a car and two bikes to make their operations in Ondo state easier.
One of the victims of the victims, who was robbed of her phone , Toyin Abegunde said, one of them came to her shopto buy paracetamol at Owo garage in Akure, after which she gave him and again requested for a blood tonic on the shelf, as she turned to give him the product, her phone had been stolen.
Over 20 sophisticated phones of different brands were recovered from the suspects.
