Kwara United football club of Ilorin this evening, brushed aside challenges from AS Douanes of Niamey, Niger Republic to advance to the next round of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, after recording a 3-0 aggregate score line over two legs.

The Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-inspired boys handed their Nigerien opponents 3-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan waterfront Lagos, last week Sunday, before completing the assignment with a barren draw at the Stade Seyni Kountche, Niamey Niger Republic on Sunday.

The away result was achieved, not only with a sterling display on the pitch but also, with a display of mental strength, as the Nigerien, hired the services of Marabouts who were seen, sprinkling goat blood, on the players, as they alighted from their bus.

In an earlier report, it was stated, how the hosts tried to intimidate Kwara United players into chickening out of the task of seeing through their ambition of advancing. Kwara United will now face RSB Berkane of Morocco, on the 7th of October 2022.

Meanwhile, the other Nigerian representatives, Remo Stars of Ikenne were defeated 1-0, by AS FAR Rabat of Morocco, after the first leg, played in Rabbat last Sunday, ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Moroccan side ensured that Nigeria is left with only one representative in the CAF Confederation Cup this season, with Kwara United being that team.

FAR Rabat won the encounter, 2-1, on the aggregate to advance, courtesy of a 56th minutes goal that silenced the home fans in Ikenne.
