The final Christian funeral rites for the late Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Mr. Marques Adetunji Oni was done yesterday at his country home; Osi, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The late Registrar died on the 18th of August, 2022 at the National Hospital, Abuja after an illness. He was a pioneer staff of the Polytechnic in 1992 where he rose as an Assistant Registrar to the peak in the administrative sector to become the Registrar.

The celebration of his eternal journey home was kicked off on Tuesday with a commendation service on the grounds of the Polytechnic in Offa followed by a Service of Songs at his father’s home at Fate, Ilorin and another commendation service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Heaven’s Gate Parish, Tanke Ilorin.

In his charge at the Service of Songs at Fate, Pastor Yinka Silas said as human beings our abode here on earth is ephemeral while an enduring place of unspeakable joy awaits all of us in our final home in heaven depending however, on how we spend our sojourn here.

Also, at the funeral and thanksgiving service held ar the Ebenezer African Church, Osi; Bishop of A.S Olaniyi of Ogiri African Church Archdeaconry, Offa in his sermon said there should be a permanent question on every man’s heart which is; ‘what will be said of me after I die?’.

According to the cleric, it is appointed unto every man to die someday and after that, what will people here on earth say of him which will precede the accounts of life that he is duty bound to give when he appears before his creator.

Bishop Olaniyi enjoins all men to be mindful of his day-to-day deeds while still living bearing in mind that there is no escape from death for any one pointing out that we must be prepared to die and as well, be ready to face our God whom we owe explanations about how we live while here.

The late Adetunji Oni started his career as an Assistant Registrar, advanced to Senior Assistant Registrar (1995 – 1999), Principal Assistant Registrar (1999 – 2000, Deputy Registrar (2007 – 2019) and got to the peak on 2nd January 2020 when he was appointed the Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic the position he held until his passage onto glory on the 18th August, 2022.

Uncle Tunji as he was fondly called in the polytechnic community was known as a workaholic who believes in a strict adherence to the rules and good discipline at work.

As an ardent member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), he was a member of Cornerstone Parish, Heaven’s Gate Cathedral Parish and Blessed People’s Assembly. He was said to have been appointed the Assistant Pastor at the Blessed Peoples Assembly where he worshiped till his death last August.

He was decribed as a fervent church worker and an active member of the Church’ Welfare Committee, Building Committee, Excellent Men Fellowship, Christ Redeemers’ Friend International, RCCG Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Prayer Champions and Elders’ Committee.

He was intererred at the community cemetry Osi in Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State. He is survived by his wife; Mrs Berlinda Naba Oni, brothers, sisters, children and grandchidren.
