Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has described the death of a Kwara-born business tycoon, Alhaji Idris Alaya, who passed on Friday evening, as a great loss to Ilorin Emirate community, Kwara and beyond.

Saraki in a statement on Saturday by his Press Officer on Home Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, stated he received news of the demise of the business mogul and philanthropist with shock and disbelief, saying that the deceased lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation.

The Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate commiserated with his immediate family and the entire Alaya family in Ilorin.

“Alhaji Alaya was a distinguished son of the Emirate who lived a fulfilled and an exemplary life worthy of emulation. He added that the deceased would be remembered for his impacts in the lives of the people and his contributions to the development of Ilorin and the business community where he was a big player.

“I join family members, friends, associates, wellwishers and the business community in mourning a distinguished son of Ilorin, frontline businessman, community leader and philanthropist, Alhaji Idris Alaya. I received news of his death with sadness.

“My heartfelt condolences to his immediate family and the entire Alaya family over this painful loss,” he said.

Saraki however prayed Almighty Allah to overlook his shortcomings, admit him into Aljanah Firdaus and comfort his family and loved ones during this moment of grief.
