Students of Kwara State College of Education Ilorin today went on a rampage following the failure of the management to conduct the examination.
The protest, which resulted in the burning of tires, both inside, and outside the campus, as well as on major streets of the Sawmill area in Ilorin, led to the destruction of the school’s properties, including vehicles.
Speaking in an interview with Sobi FM Correspondent Toyin Saheed Toyin Saheed, the Deputy Speaker of the Student Union of Kwara State College of Education Ilorin, Comrade Ibrahim Sulyman said the student went on the protest because of the failure of the management to conduct an examination for the students.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has ordered the closedown of the school, following the protest by students.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sobi FM’s Toyin Saheed, the Provost of the College, Doctor Jimoh Ayinla who described the attitude of the students as barbaric, explained that the issue between the management and the union caused the delay in the conduct of the exams but was later resolved amicably.
The Provost, who said the management has banned the union of the college, however, urged the students to maintain law and order, adding that any students caught, involved in any act of violence, will be dealt with, as an individual, not as Students union.
