The Social Democratic Party Senatorial candidate in Kwara South, Professor Wale Sulaiman, CON, has emerged top favorites among voters in the district ahead of the 2023 general elections.
This development is contained in a statement issued in line with the analysis of an online poll by an Ilorin based online media 9japarrot Digital Media and Communications to determine the preferred senatorial candidate of Kwara South indigenes and residents.
Five Kwara senatorial candidates were featured in the Online poll that run for 72 hours, include the Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent senator, Lola Ashiru, Professor Wale Sulaiman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Former Senator, Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Others are a Former Kwara South Senator, Sulaiman Makanjuola Ajadi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Ambassador Dr. Olarenwaju Abraham of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
The final results released early hours on of Friday 4th, November 2022 shows 51.54% of Kwara southerners prefer and would vote for Prof. Wale Sulaiman of SDP as Kwara South Senator comes 2023 election, while the incumbent Senator, Sen. Lola Ashiru of the APC came a distant second in the poll with 14.95%.
Just like the gubernatorial poll, conducted by the online medium where the SDP candidate emerges as the winner, here the SDP candidate Prof. Wale Sulaiman emerged winner again totaling two wins for the party in the online poll.
Ambassador Dr. Olarewaju Abraham of YPP and Dr. Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim of PDP is the 3rd preferred candidates where they both got 14.29% each.
Followed by a former senator, Sen. Sulaiman Makanjuola Ajadi of the ADC who’s the least preferred candidate with 4.49% votes.
Respondents of the survey carried out between midnight on October 31st to 11:59 pm on 3rd November were asked a single question, who would they prefer as the next Senator of Kwara South in 2023: with an option to choose between the 5 major contenders as listed above.
No fewer than 749 people participated with respondents spreading across the 7 Local Governments of the senatorial district which includes; Ekiti, Oke-ero, Offa, Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, and Oyun.
The survey was carried out through an online poll platform (Strawpoll) with a high response rate.
Similarly, the results from the poll showed that Wale Sulaiman started as 3rd at the beginning of the poll, whereas the PDP and APC candidates started as 1st and 2nd respectively.
Wale Sulaiman overtook others on the second day of the poll to be at the top, and he maintained the number one position from then to the end of the poll.
At the beginning of the poll, the YYP candidate, Ambassador Dr. Olarewaju Abraham was in 4th position but later overtook the PDP candidate, Rafiu Ibrahim but they eventually ended in the 3rd position both.
The ADC candidate, Sulaiman Makanjuola Ajadi maintained his Fifth place throughout.
Wale Sulaiman polled the highest vote with wide distance as he’s the only one with 51.54% out of 100% against his runner-up, Senator Lola Ashiru who polled a distant 14.95%.
The poll survey posted on our official Facebook page also generated over 100 plus comments and 100 plus several shares, the post also reached over 18,000 plus people which is an indication that Kwarans in the South senatorial district are on the look to access all senatorial candidates with clarity.
The majority of the comments under the post also tally with the poll results as most confirmed that they will go for Wale Sulaiman as an accomplished Neurosurgeon and Researcher, whose vision is driven by the love for a prosperous Kwara South through effective legislation.
“In conclusion, as the survey revealed, Wale Sulaiman was the clear winner in the overall poll results.” 9japarrot Media noted.
Wale Sulaiman’s candidacy is indeed a major threat to other contenders as the poll result projected him as the choice of the majority who participated in the Online poll.
