The Kwara State Football Association, under the leadership of Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, has decided to honour its first Chairman, The Wali of Ilorin, Alhaji Shehu Usman Mustapha, with a football competition to be staged sometime next year.
This was disclosed at a Press Conference, today, at the the FA Secretariat – Shehu Usman Mustapha House, Ilorin, well attended by major football stakeholders across the state, following which interested clubs can start registering, immediately.
The FA chose Sobi FM as its official media partner for the competition that is meant to unearth hidden talents across the state for nurture to stardom.
Present at the occasion was the representative of the Governor and Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Magaji, two of the honouree’s sons, Alhaji Abdulganiyu, Usman Mustapha, and Alhaji Kaseem Mustapha represented their father.
Also in attendance are the Nigerian Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike; Director of Football, ABS Ilorin FC, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka; the Chairman, Kwara SWAN, Mallam Jimoh Bashir, ace Sportscaster, Bayour Issah, and the FA Board members, including the Asoju Ọba of Jebba, Captain Dayo Ayodele (whose son has also donated a sum of ₦50,000 to support the competition), among other personalities.
