The Nigeria Union of Teachers ( NUT ), Kwara State Wing has rejoiced with Christian teachers ss they join the rest of the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The NUT chairman in the state Comrade Oyewo Muhammad Bashir, who also extended felicitations to Christian students and parents over the festival in a statement today, called on the people to use the occasion to reflect on the life and teachings of Christ, which specifically preaches love, tolerance, kindness, generosity, selflessness and peaceful coexistence among other outstanding virtues.

He wished all Christians a colourful and rewarding celebration, urging them to judiciously use the Christmas season to pray for a secured Nigeria, peaceful coexistence among the people and prosperity of the country.

The NUT boss who called on teachers to ensure moderate celebration, particularly advised them to use the holiday period to rest and plan for the next term, as school is slated to resume academic activities on the ninth of January, 2023.

” Let them celebrate with modesty and remember to plan for resumption, as they will be going back to school to continue the task of shaping the lives of younger Nigerians.

” I wish to use this opportunity to sincerely and happily appreciate all teachers for their past commitment and to urge them to further double their efforts ahead of the second and third terms of the academic season”, he said.

He also advised students on judicious utilisation of the ongoing holiday season, Comrade Bashir said, ” students are not expected to throw their notebooks away or drop their textbooks, as they suppose to go through their books.

” Good students must endeavour to revise by going through their past notebooks, go through their answer scripts to see where they do not measure up to expectation, so that they can improve their academic performance. So, I urge students not to play away their time during this holiday”.

He charged parents to spend moderately during the festivities, as they should remember to start saving for their children and wards payment for external examinations’ registration, disclosing that WAEC registration has commenced, while that of NECO will soon kick start.
