The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ Zone D has called on the government to look into the new cash policy and fuel scarcity that has crumbled many small businesses and made living difficult for Nigerians, especially the rural dwellers in the zone, by finding lasting solutions and resolve it as soon as possible for the growth of the economy.

The call was the major highlight of a communique jointly signed by Nancy N. Orshi (Ex-officio Zone D),
Ademu Seidu (Secretary Kogi State Council) and Osaretin Osadebamwen (Vice Chairman FCT Council) at the end of the exco meeting of the Zone on Makurdi the Benue state Capital.

Zone D of the NUJ comprises of Abuja, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger and Plateau States.

The union urged government to urgently address the issue, saying the twin problem has brought untoward hardship to Nigerians.

It also appealed to security agencies to work with journalists pre, during and after the elections to enable them carry out their duties without any form of molestation or attack, called on the the federal government to step up support for security agencies and her personnel to ensure that the region is safe from banditry, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity.

The union also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should extend or re-open her portal for accreditation of journalists who are yet to be captured in the zone for effective coverage of the election.

The zone also commiserated with the Grand Patron of the Zone, Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule, over the death of his son and also with the Chairman of Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adeiza Momoh Jimoh, over the death of his wife as including the Chairman of the FCT Council, Comrade Emmanule Ogbeche and members of the council on the death of its Member Mrs. Blessing Adewole.
