The Kwara State Ministry of Social development has taken up the responsibility to take care of a homeless mentally-challenged woman, who was delivered of a baby boy, yesterday night, after Sobi FM made a distress call to the Honourable Commissioner, Mrs. Aremu Abosede Deborah, through the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye.

Sobi FM had reported that One Mr. Aliu Ahmed who made a distress call, from Oja Gbọọrọ Junction area of the Ilorin Metropolis to the station, that a homeless mentally challenged woman gave birth to a baby boy, saying, he and his wife took her to a nearby private hospital.

But after helping to severe the umbilical cord, the Private hospital, reportedly told them that they could not do more than that for them, and that prompted him to contact Sobi FM, which took it up as a matter of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Commissioner for Social Aremu Abosede Deborah who gave the indication through the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, said the state government as part of its responsibility will take care care of the baby and the mother.

The Commissioner had put a call through to Mr. Ahmed, after which, she instructed one of the Ministry’s staffers, living close to the area, to take the baby and the mother to the designates facility for proper care for the mother and the baby.

She also assured of the baby’s welfare, going forward, as she promises, as a matter of procedure, to take the baby to one of the Motherless Babies facilities in the State, for an adequate.

The mother and the baby are doing well, as at the time of filing this report.
