Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Professor Noah Yusuf has once again reiterated the need for the Federal Government to support private Universities in Nigeria through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Tetfund.
Professor Noah appealed today while speaking to newsmen on the performance and achievement of the university in the 2022 National University Commission (NUC), Accreditation.
Professor Noah said the appeal became necessary due to the financial contribution of the private universities to the purse of the Federal Government, hence the need for the government to begin to provide support to the private universities, as they were doing to government-owned institutions in the country.
The VC, however called on President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to aid of all private universities in Nigeria through Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Tetfund projects in other to help them compete favourably inline with International standard in terms infrastructures among others
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the institution had recently succeeded in the accreditation of some courses like Law, English, Agriculture, Human Anatomy, Computer Science, Information Systems, Education Physics, Biology, Geology, and others.
He also explained that the recent achievement recorded by the University got the attention of the Katsina state government, which brought 35 students to the institution through scholarship.
Prof. Noah appreciated the support of the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustee of the institution, Doctor Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji, the Chancellor Doctor Sayyu Dantata and the management for their support.
