Stakeholders from various sectors including traditional and religious leaders gathered in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on February 22nd for an event orgnaised by the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), aimed at advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) Quality Education.
Organized in collaboration with the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) and funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), the Youth Consultation Caucus on Agenda 2030 provided a platform for robust discussions and strategic planning to address the challenges hindering the realization of quality education for all in Nigeria.
The event commenced with an enlightening panel discussion, where experts in the field shared valuable insights on the multifaceted challenges and promising opportunities associated with SDG4.
Topics ranged from access to education in marginalized communities to the importance of inclusive and equitable quality education for sustainable development.
Throughout the day, participants actively engaged in strategic breakout sessions, delving into specific issues affecting education in Nigeria and brainstorming practical solutions.
From addressing disparities in educational resources to enhancing teacher training programs, the discussions were marked by a spirit of collaboration and a shared commitment to effecting positive change.
Mr. Olasupo Abideen, the Global Director of BBYDI, emphasized the significance of youth involvement in shaping the future of education, stating, “The youth are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are active participants in driving change today.
By harnessing the energy and creativity of young people, we can accelerate progress towards achieving SDG4 and ensuring that every child receives a quality education.”
The event concluded with a sense of optimism and determination, as participants left equipped with actionable strategies and a strengthened network of like-minded individuals dedicated to advancing the cause of quality education.
