CJID said it will convene the largest body of journalists, media professionals, academics, policymakers, government institutions, and other relevant stakeholders across West Africa to discuss the state of accountability journalism in the region and how innovation is impacting its evolution, values and principles.

The Centre is calling on journalists and delegates from media organisations across West Africa to register to participate in the conference, which is being convened under the theme “Accountability Journalism: Nurturing Innovation for a Sustainable Future.”

The conference, which is expected to have about 300 delegates in attendance, seeks to drive discussions on the various aspects of journalism practice while focusing on the best ways to drive impactful innovations that could help establish more accountability in the West African democratic society.

According to CJID, the conference will begin with an Art Exhibition on the evening of July 24, while the conference will run from July 25 to 26 in Nigeria’s Federal Capital city.

It said the conference will feature workshops, and expert panels, and explore media innovations and technological tools that can fortify journalism practice in the African region while also fostering networking opportunities and collaboration that can improve accountability journalism in ways that meet the yearnings of democracy and development in the interest of the continent.
