An Ilorin Magistrate Court, today, remanded one Laminu Arelu, who allegedly made away with a ram belonging to the Senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2023 election Mallam Saliu Mustapha.
The defendant (Arelu), allegedly tresspassed into the resident of Mustapha who is also the Turaki of Ilorin, at night and stole the ram which was valued at N 200,000
According to the police report, a team of police officers led by ASP Godwin Takaino were patrolling along water view, area of Ilorin, when they accosted one commercial motorcycle conveying the defendant carrying the ram.
Meanwhile, the Security guard to the Turaki had reported that he discovered that one ram and three cows have been stolen from his principal’s residence.
Police investigation revealed that the defendant stole the ram and he was unable to give satisfactory account of himself and how he got the ram.
Our Correspondent, reports that Magistrate M.A Abdulmalik who presided over the case, ordered the remand of the defendant till 24th August, 2022 after considering the prosecutor, Jubril AlHassan’s prayer for remand.
