The Joint Border Patrol Team North Central Zone Sector 3, has intercepted a luxurious Marcopolo bus belonging to All Express International along the Abuja-Lokoja highway conveying 44 bales of second hand clothing’s 16 sacks of fairly used shoes and illegal items into the country.
Briefing Newsmen today in Ilorin, the Coordinator of the Joint Border Patrol Team, North Central zone, Olugboyega Peters, said among other times seized by the sector within the period under review includes 16 used vehicles, 1031 of 50 KG of parboiled rice, 3068 kegs of petrol and 19 sacks of used shoes.
Others include 91 bales of second hand clothing, 11 kegs of 25 litres of vegetable oil 39 cartons of foreign tomatoes and 5 motorcycles with the total duty paid value of 139 million Seven hundred and Seven thousand, five hundred naira only.
Peters commended the comptroller general of customs Hameed Ibrahim Ali, Office of the National Security adviser and other sister agencies, traditional and religions leaders and transport unions who he said their efforts has ensured the realization of the sector’s mandate.
The Coordinator insisted that hard times await unrepentant smugglers in the zone as the sector has stepped up extra measures to combat the influx of foreign rice smuggling and other prohibited items into the country.
