The Dele Shittu Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and educational support, with the announcement of a new scholarship scheme set to sponsor students from secondary school through to university level.

Chairman of the Foundation, Dr. Lanre Shittu made this known in Ilorin while unveiling the foundation’s achievements and activities for the year.

He emphasized the importance of giving back to society, urging wealthy Nigerians to embrace social responsibility as a way of uplifting the less privileged.

“Life should be a shared responsibility. If we can build a strong middle class where every Nigerian can afford the basics of life, we will collectively become a better country,” Dr. Shittu said.

Highlighting the impact of the foundation’s work over the past year, Dr. Shittu revealed that over 800 students across Kwara State have benefitted from educational scholarships covering both secondary and tertiary institutions.

According to him, 1,000 students had their JAMB registration fully paid for while 500 others received financial support for NECO examinations.

From this number, between 50 and 100 students will receive full university scholarships.

Looking ahead, Dr. Shittu disclosed that the foundation is rolling out a long-term educational sponsorship programme that will see many students fully supported from secondary school to university level starting this year.

He added that the foundation is creating an enabling environment for young people to thrive and become self-sustaining, aligning its initiatives with the broader goal of sustainable development in Kwara State.

“Our vision is not just to be a known organization, but a catalyst igniting positive change within individuals and inspiring them to become agents of transformation in their communities,” he stated.
