The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State has dismissed the reports that some members of the ruling party defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Opin Ward of the local government area.
It said that the reports on social media platforms that one Chief Bola Daramola and others left the ruling APC for PDP in Opin ward was figment of their imagination, pointing out that Daramola was at no time a member of the APC.
The Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ekiti local government area, High Chief Michael Fatoyinbo, who made the clarification in a statement issued in Ilorin today, said the defection claim was borne out of mischief.
Fatoyinbo explained that Daramola, who became frustrated due to the defeat he suffered in the State House of Assembly primary election of the PDP for Ekiti Constituency requested to be absorbed into the APC fold but was turned down.
He noted that the APC was stunned to be informed that the PDP in Ekiti local government staged a media fun-fare to deceive the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mr Gbenga Makanjuola, of defection rumour while it was a mere reconciliation with Daramola, who is an aggrieved member of the PDP.
Fatoyinbo added that some members of the executive of PDP and key stakeholders of the opposition including Mrs Bola Afolayan (Yeye-Oge) will soon be unveiled to the APC hierarchy.
He enjoined members of the APC in the the local government area to remain steadfast, and be wary of the deception and ‘yahoo-yahoo’ antics of the dying PDP, describing the pettiness of the opposition as inconsequential.
