Ahead of the 2023 general elections Nigerians and Kwarans in particular have been charged on the need to elect credible candidates that will provide people oriented representation to allow everyone feel impact of democracy at all levels of governance.
The SDP Kwara South Senatorial candidate Professor Wale Sulaiman made this call while addressing the Senate Arm of the Law Students’ association of Nigeria at their Legislative summit held at the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
The chairman of RNZ foundation added that Nigerians must begin to look out for the virtues of representatives put forward, saying now is the time to bring in people who are reliable and have high moral standards to represent the interest of different community.
Professor Sulaiman charged the students to become an active and positive participants in the political process in the country for a good quota of quality Representation in Nigeria.
He however, said that he is fully prepared to provide quality representation to the people of his constituency and decried the current situation in the constituency that has left the area underdeveloped.
He added that the people should also be wary of moneybag politicians who are always trooping in during the elections period to woo them for votes but would abandoned them after the elections.
Professor Sulaiman noted that the forthcoming elections should provide them the opportunity to vote for credible leaders that would rise to their needs and improves their socio well being through provision of quality dividends of democracy.
He stressed that his aspiration is burnt out of the desire to cater for their needs and to ensure that the people of Kwara south have good representation that would set the district on the path of development.
According to him “Kwara south suffers huge infrastructural deficit ranging from poor road network, lack of access to pipe borne water, and lack of access to quality healthcare among other necessities of life, I am coming to correct that if voted to represent the constituency,” he said.
Professor Sulaiman was joined by the Vice- Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Noah Yusuf to launch the Sage magazine in honour of the world renowned neurosurgeon Prof. Wale Sulaiman and presentation of awards.
