The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme Doctor Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter has advocated for more funding into the health care system, saying the only way to ensure Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria, is financing through risk pooling using Health Insurance platforms.

Jetawo-Winter, gave the advised today during a flagged off of phase two enrollment of Indigent Beneficiaries into the basic health provision fund and Kwara care programme.

She explained that beneficiaries of the first phase of access to care, were mostly poor young mothers, children under 5 years of age, the physically challenged and elderly men and women.

She noted that with the enactment of the NHIA law, making health insurance coverage mandatory for every Nigerian, it means that states have to complement the effort of the Federal government to achieve Universal Health coverage in Nigeria.

Speaking earlier, the wife of the Kwara State Governor, Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq congratulated the Kwara health insurance agency for the laudable Initiative and seek for more meaningful programme that would benefit the people of Kwara State.
